Past paper biology

You can find Edexcel A-Level Biology past papers on Revision Science. Past papers are arranged by topic and by exam board. You can download the past papers by clicking on the links below. If you’re not a Pearson Edexcel student, you can also access past papers from other exam boards. The links below will take you to the Edexcel A-Level Biology section of Revision Science.

Structure of the exam

The Pearson Edexcel International (PEI) exam board offers the A-Level Biology course. The exam paper is suited for schools outside the UK. However, students need to contextualise the material to understand it. The questions are not as straight-forward as those of the OCR and AQA exams, making the study process time-consuming. To solve this problem, past papers are useful resources.

The past papers are categorized by topic and exam board. Topic one contains multiple-choice questions, while topics two to eight will contain long-answer questions. Moreover, one part of the paper will feature questions based on a pre-released scientific article. All these questions should be answered accurately. However, the questions on the other topics are not necessarily identical to the questions on the unit one exam.

The questions in the AQA past papers are generally easier to answer than the ones in the CIE and Edexcel exams. This is because they do not ask as many complex questions as the CIE and OCR exams. There are six assessments in Section B, and these are worth 80 marks. There are two different types of questions in Section B, namely extended response and short answer. The exam also includes questions on the nervous system.

Exam board

If you’re looking for an exam board for Biology A level, you can find one that uses Pearson Edexcel specifications. The Edexcel B specification is different from the Edexcel A specification. Both specifications use multiple-choice and open-response questions, and require a significant amount of written work. You’ll also be assessed on your maths skills. Listed below are the main differences between the two.

Exam papers from the OCR exam board will include questions on topics one to eight. They will consist of a mixture of long and short-answer questions, as well as mathematical questions, which will make up 10% of your overall mark. In addition to the multiple-choice questions, you’ll also need to answer a question on the pre-released scientific article that underpins one section of the paper.
